▼Spot info▼ 📍Seiryoji Temple (Saga Shakado) 📝About Seiryoji Temple (Saga Shakado) in Kyoto’s Ukyo Ward is a Jodo sect temple built on the site of the mountain villa of Minamoto no Toru, a Heian-period noble and one of the inspirations for Hikaru Genji, the protagonist of The Tale of Genji. Its main statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is said to have originated from India, making it a valuable cultural treasure. The temple is also famous for its stunning cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, offering breathtaking scenery throughout the year. 🖋️My memo I came to the Saga area to visit Nison-in Temple, but I happened to stumble upon Seiryoji Temple (Saga Shakado). Compared to Nison-in, this temple offered an even deeper sense of tranquility. I was particularly struck by the sight of people spending slow, peaceful moments here and there. While visiting famous autumn foliage spots is wonderful, there’s something special about enjoying the gentle flow of time at a place like this.
