Location โฌ‡๏ธ Save this one for later or send it to a mate planning a North Island roadie ๐Ÿ•๏ธ When I first heard about a beach you can only access through a tunnel carved by hand, I knew I had to see it for myself. ๐Ÿ“ Waikawau Tunnel Beach, Waikato, NZ ๐Ÿ“… When to go: Best visited at low tide so you can explore the full stretch of beach safely. Summer and early autumn (Decโ€“April) are ideal for better weather and sunset hangs. ๐Ÿ›ป How to get there: Located on the remote Waikato coast between Marokopa and Awakino. The road in is gravel for the last stretch, so take it slow โ€” but yes, 2WDs can make it! Parking is at the entrance to the tunnel and itโ€™s just a short walk from there. ๐ŸŒฟ What to expect: A dark, narrow tunnel (torch not necessary but helpful), wild waves, black sand, and towering cliffs. Bring snacks, your camera, and leave no trace. Dogs allowed! Follow @getlostwithliam for more wild NZ travel gems like this one ๐ŸŒ #travelnz #beautifuldestinations #newzealandguide #visitnz
