Location โฌ๏ธ Save this one for later or send it to a mate planning a North Island roadie ๐๏ธ When I first heard about a beach you can only access through a tunnel carved by hand, I knew I had to see it for myself. ๐ Waikawau Tunnel Beach, Waikato, NZ ๐ When to go: Best visited at low tide so you can explore the full stretch of beach safely. Summer and early autumn (DecโApril) are ideal for better weather and sunset hangs. ๐ป How to get there: Located on the remote Waikato coast between Marokopa and Awakino. The road in is gravel for the last stretch, so take it slow โ but yes, 2WDs can make it! Parking is at the entrance to the tunnel and itโs just a short walk from there. ๐ฟ What to expect: A dark, narrow tunnel (torch not necessary but helpful), wild waves, black sand, and towering cliffs. Bring snacks, your camera, and leave no trace. Dogs allowed! Follow @getlostwithliam for more wild NZ travel gems like this one ๐ #travelnz #beautifuldestinations #newzealandguide #visitnz
