▼Spot info▼ 📍Tankuma Kitamise @tankumakitamisehonten_official 🥢About “Tankuma” was founded in Kyoto in 1928 as a restaurant specializing in Kyoto cuisine. Over the years, it became a beloved establishment, cherished by many of Japan’s leading cultural figures. I had the chance to visit Tankuma Kitamise, which carries on the proud lineage of the original house. It was a joy to savor the seasonal multi-course dishes that beautifully reflect the changing seasons. Located in Kawaramachi, one of Kyoto’s most iconic districts, it is a place well worth visiting. The following description of “Kyoto cuisine” is quoted from the restaurant’s official website: “Kyoto cuisine is said to have emerged from a harmonious blend of courtly dishes refined in the Imperial Palace, the vegetarian traditions of temple cuisine, and the elegant kaiseki of the tea ceremony. At Tankuma Kitamise, we take pride in being among the most distinguished long-established houses representing this culinary heritage. Our name, “Tankuma,” is derived from our founder, Kumazaburō Kurisu—whose given name contains the character for “bear” (kuma)—and from “Tan’e,” the renowned establishment where he once trained.” 🗺️Address 355 Kamiyacho, Nishikiyamachi-dori Shijo-agaru, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto-shi, Kyoto, Japan 🚃Access Just 210 meters from Kawaramachi Station 🕙Opening Hours Monday – Sunday 12:00 – 15:00 (Last order 13:30) 17:30 – 22:00 (Last order 19:30) Closed: Irregular holidays Note: For international guests, please inquire through the hotel where you are staying when making a reservation. #kyotocuisine #kyotorestaurant #교토여행 #京料理 #たん熊北店
