⚠️ Not every moment is the right time for off-leash freedom. In New Zealand’s wild landscapes, it’s often safer and kinder to keep our dogs on a lead. 🐕🦺 Have you ever had an off-leash moment that went wrong? I know I have… 💬 🐤 New Zealand’s native birds and wildlife are vulnerable, and many can’t escape a curious pup. Keeping your dog on a leash means protecting kiwi, kororā, and other precious species that call our trails home. 🚶♂️ It’s easy to think our dogs are well-behaved enough to roam free, but all it takes is one unexpected moment—another dog, a sudden noise, or wildlife—and things can go wrong fast. Plus, not everybody wants to meet your dog!! (I know I don’t) 🛡️ Many of our favorite trails have leash rules for good reasons. Ignoring them can lead to fines, awkward confrontations, and a lot of stress—for you, your dog, and everyone else. 🤝 As dog owners, we set the tone for what’s acceptable. By keeping our dogs on a lead, we show respect for our environment, our wildlife, and other outdoor enthusiasts. It’s a small choice that makes a big impact. Your dog’s leash is more than a rule—it’s a lifeline for safety, respect, and responsibility. Let’s keep our beautiful trails safe for everyone.
