a blink of an eye and I’m turning 20… in the city I’ve always wildly dreamed about. Here are 5 self-reflections that I came to by this time in my life: 1. everything and anything can happen in life. anything. you can lose your home, access to your home country, or meet a love of your life — and mostly at the same time. Even navigating one of the hardest and the most expensive cities is SOMEHOW possible. it’s just the matter of what choices do you have courage to make and how you will handle the situation called “life”. 2. Every day you have around 2-5 chances to start changing your life towards the one you truly desire to live. Whether it’s thinking in a different angle on some of your believes and scenarios, or starting to implement a habit that will affect your body and mind in the best way. Take these chances, you won’t regret it. 3. Be your strongest supporter and you biggest fan. No matter how ‘selfish’ or egocentric it might seem to you at first, you are the one who’s responsible for getting you going and cheering you up. It’s not a job of your friends or coworkers, you are on you. It also comes from the idea that people have about NYC being extremely resourceful and inspiring place that will make you a different version. It will, but in fact, because of yourself. 4. No dream in your heart is “overrated” or too hyped. If you truly desire something in life — there is a way for you to achieve it. That’s how it works. Since my 12-13 yo I started dreaming about NYC not even having an idea of how in life I’ll be able to move here. By my 20s now, I’ve already lived in New York for just over 1.5 years. It’s one of the best life experiences ever, no matter what hate do some commenters have on NYC :) 5. If you see an opportunity to grow in a desirable direction — take it and do the best that you can to become what you’re aiming to be. Even if it’s the slightest possibility. Going back to the first point where everything in life is possible… it is. You just have to keep moving in the right direction. If any of the points resonated with you — let me know in the comment section 🫶🏼 Do you remember your openings in your 20s? Would love to hear from you 💫
