Can you guess which one is the reflection? 🤯 Share this post with your road trip buddy ✨ When I first walked the trail around Lake Matheson, I couldn’t believe how perfectly Aoraki/Mt Cook and Mt Tasman reflected in the water; it looked unreal, like a painting. This spot is famous for a reason, but timing and planning make all the difference. 🌅 Sunrise is the best time for mirror-like reflections, before the wind picks up. 🥾 The lake is a 5-minute drive from Fox Glacier village. The loop track is about 2.6km (1.5 miles), taking 1–1.5 hours at a relaxed pace. The trail is well-formed and easy, with boardwalks through rainforest and plenty of photo stops. ☀️ Bring a warm layer—even on summer mornings it can be chilly. If you can, walk the whole loop as the far side has the best viewing platforms. There’s also a café at the carpark, perfect for breakfast after your walk.
