Here some ways that helped me to find friends after moving to South Korea! 👯♀️ ▪️ Language Class ▪️ Part Time Jobs ▪️ Other Friends ▪️ Language Exchange ▪️ My Instagram ▪️ @nomad_her Meetups ▪️ Evenings in Hongdae/Itaewon ▪️ Dating Apps (lol) ▪️ Volunteering ▪️ Organized group trips ▪️ Expat group chats Some important comments: ❗️Dating or language exchange Apps (often used like the same thing BTW) or a night out most likely won’t help you find long term friends. 🙈 ❗️You have to leave your comfort zone (and your house) and you have to actively talk to people to find friends. 💪🏼 ❗️ For me personally it was easier to find long lasting friendships with other foreigners living here. Mostly because you already have so much to talk about (cause you‘re going through similar things) and you can communicate a bit easier (language, but also cultural things like sarcasm etc.) 👯♀️ ❗️ As always: Be careful when meeting strangers! Korea over all is a safe country to travel solo.. BUT no one is ever 100% safe. Watch your drinks, trust your gut and avoid situations that feel off or unsafe. ⚠️ ❗️ And last but not least, some general advice: Avoid people that make you feel bad or make you question yourself. Especially when moving abroad your “good friend radar“ will be a bit off cause you really want to fit in and you meet people from very different cultures. It’s easier said than done, but I LEARNED to prefer time alone instead of spending it with someone who made me feel bad in some way, even if it’s just really subtile 🥰 Let me know what else you would like to know about this topic! 💌 #Korea #koreanfriends #southkorea #seoul #friends #southkorea #dating #expat #travel #travelfriends
