No one hands you a blueprint for this city. You just live it and if you’re lucky, you grow into someone you’d be proud to know. [ 1 ] Put yourself out there even when it’s awkward. The best things in New York rarely come through a plan. They happen because you DM’d someone. Showed up solo. Said hi first. You’ll miss 100 magical moments if you wait for the “right time.” [ 2 ] Be creative but stay flexible and open to the environment. You’ll come here with a plan. And that’s beautiful. But this city has a way of opening doors you didn’t know existed. Say yes when it feels aligned. Pivot when it feels promising. You’re not quitting — you’re upgrading. [ 3 ] You don’t need to be everywhere - just in the right rooms. Chasing everything will burn you out. Focus on where your people are. Where you feel seen. Where the energy doesn’t drain you. That’s how you build a life that lasts. [ 4 ] Stay true to yourself, even when the city tries to shape you. Trends will come. Noise will rise. But nothing will carry you further than knowing what you stand for. In New York, authenticity isn’t optional — it’s your currency. [ 5 ] Your life here will not be linear and that’s the point. You’ll have seasons of winning and seasons of waiting. But nothing is wasted. Even the hard days build you. Especially the hard days. 3 years in New York and I’m still learning.
