LOCATION ⬇️ 📌 Save this for your NZ bucket list! Wading through the dark at Waipu Caves was easily one of the most magical experiences I’ve had in New Zealand. It's a raw, off-the-beaten-path adventure where you’re surrounded by thousands of tiny, blue "galaxies" on the cave ceiling. 🗓️ Aim for a weekday so it's less busy and try to go after sunset to truly experience the cave in its true glory in the dark. 🚗 Located about 30 minutes south of Whangārei or 2 hours north of Auckland, there is a small gravel road leading to the carpark, and entry to the caves is free! 💫 Bring a headlamp and sturdy shoes you don't mind getting muddy. The cave floor can be slippery and wet, especially if it has rained recently. Follow @getlostwithliam for more epic NZ travel tips and hidden gems!
