▼Spot info▼ 📍Cafe AUSGANG @ausgang.cafe @kinseryokan 📝About One of my favorite places in Kyoto has been transformed into a bagel café. Located in the historic geisha district of Shimabara, the café is housed in a beautifully renovated ageya—a former entertainment house rich in cultural heritage. Here, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast in a setting filled with quiet charm and history. Unlike the bustling atmosphere of Gion, Shimabara was once a flourishing cultural hub not only for traditional banquets, but also for poetry and the literary arts. Today, it remains a peaceful area that still reflects the elegance of that era. The building, now home to the lovely Kinse Inn, offers a truly special lodging experience. During the day, the inn turns into a cozy café where fresh, handmade bagels are baked and served. I had the pleasure of spending a calm, romantic morning there. They also offer vegan-friendly options, so it’s a great spot for vegan guests too! The owner, Mr. Shiga, is a warm, creative soul with a great sense of humor. I also learned that his wife is a photographer—what a talented couple! I’ll definitely be back for more bagels. They were truly delicious! 🗺️Address 79 Daikokucho, Nishishinmachi, Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture 🚃Access 7–10 minutes on foot from JR Tambaguchi Station on the Sanin Main Line (Sagano Line) 🕙Opening Hours Monday – Saturday: 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Last Order: 1:00 PM) ※Closed on Sundays and the 2nd & 4th Thursdays
