I stopped in at Maruia Hot Springs after a long, cold drive through Lewis Pass to stay in one of their glamping pods and it was exactly what I needed. It is a beautiful off-grid wellness retreat right in the heart of an ancient forest, with natural hot springs full of mineral water. 🚗 It’s right off SH7 between Reefton and Hanmer Springs, about 2.5 hours from Christchurch. Parking’s easy and you don’t need to be staying overnight to visit the springs. 🌧️ Go rain or shine — the misty weather actually makes it feel even more magical. Bring jandals, a reusable water bottle, and book ahead if you're planning a weekend visit. There's a restaurant on site and spa treatments if you want to go full zen.
