Accessible only by boat (or via a long walk from the port // ride in a ridiculously skinny car), few people reach this part of the tranquil river. At the five star Ryokan, guests get to enjoy a tea patio, in-room hot baths, a craft room, and a restaurant that serves multi-course kaiseki style meals. It’s not cheap but it’s worth the splurge (yes, I paid in full for this one). If you want to spend less, book well in advance and plan to stay on a weeknight.
