Your full hiking guide below ⬇️ Save this one for your next West Coast adventure 📍 The Mercer Bay Loop Track is one of the best places in Auckland, and possibly the North Island, to watch the sunset. It’s also dog-friendly 😍 🗓️ When to go: Late afternoon/sunset on a weekday = golden. You’ll dodge crowds and get dreamy lighting if the clouds part. 🚗 How to get there: Just a 45-minute drive from Auckland CBD—there’s a small carpark on Te Ahua Point Road, but it fills fast on weekends, so go early or late. 🌤️ What to know: It’s a short loop (about 2.1km) but super dramatic. The cliffs are unfenced, so keep dogs and kids close. Wear good shoes—the track can get slippery after rain.
