
Bongseonsa Temple is truly magical place to visit in late spring. An hour outside of Seoul, in Namyangju, it’s known to be guardian temple for the tomb of King Sejo of Joseon. Temple was built long ago in 969 during the Goreyo Dinasty, but with other name - Unaksa. Queen Jeonghui, wife of King Sejo renamed it ot Bongseonsa when the royal tomb of his husband was built nearby. The temple preserved many national treasures, to mention few - the bronze bell of the temple, one of the few bronze bells remaining from the early Joseon Dynasty; Vairocana Buddha Triad - beautiful handing painting of Buddha that was on display on special occasions. The temple also offers Temple Stay program where you can learn about the history of the place, the Buddhist practice and participate in various experience programs like lantern and beats making, meditation walk in the forest, etc.
