Waterfall Wednesdays: Wellington Edition 🏞️ Today’s spot is a hidden gem that offers a refreshing escape into nature. Nestled in Belmont Regional Park, the Korokoro Dam waterfall is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the serenity of lush native bush and cascading water. Your guide to visiting the Korokoro Dam waterfall in @wellingtonnz: 🥾 Trail: Choose your adventure! You can take a longer, flatter walk from the Cornish St entrance, which meanders through scenic forest and alongside the stream (about 45 mins each way). Alternatively, if you’re up for a steeper challenge, start from the Oakleigh St entrance for a shorter, more direct route (about 20 mins each way). 🅿️ Access/Parking: The Cornish St entrance has limited parking, so arrive early. There is a larger carpark available at the Oakleigh St entrance. Both entrances are accessible by public transport with a short walk. 📏 Difficulty: Varies. The Cornish St route is easy to moderate with a gradual incline, suitable for most fitness levels. The Oakleigh St route is moderate to hard due to its steepness. 🤫 Secret: If you’re up for a bit of exploration, try and find the fallen tree that’s a short walk below the dam. It acts as a natural bridge! 👧👦 Family-friendly: The Cornish St route is ideal for families with children. The Oakleigh St route is better suited for older kids or those who enjoy a bit of a workout. 🦮 Dog-Friendly: Dogs are welcome on a leash. 🕶️ Shade: The trail is mostly shaded by native bush, making it a cool and comfortable walk even on warm days. 🚽 Facilities: There are no toilets at the Cornish St entrance, but there are some at the Oakleigh St entrance, so plan accordingly. 🗑️ Leave no trace: Always respect the places you visit. Take all your rubbish with you and leave the trail as you found it. 🙏 Follow @naturewithliam for more hidden gems, trail guides, and tips for exploring the great outdoors! #connecttonature #waterfallwednesdays #nzplacestovisit #thingstodoinwellington #bestwalksinNZ #wellingtonNZ
