A purple ritual in preparation 💜🌽 An overnight challenge: naturally dyeing cotton napkins using Maíz Morado (purple corn) and Palo Campeche (logwood) — a quiet homage to color, land, and time. — Sourced alum and Palo Campeche from @donde_clara — Picked up cotton fabric at a local shop in Mexico City — Prepped the fabric with an alum soak the day before — On the event day, began the deep purple dyeing process with logwood — Dried the pieces on the rooftop @koik_contemporary_, then tied each with a husk from the corn — The result: handmade napkins in the signature shade of Maíz Morado, ready for an intimate dinner ✨ As a final touch, I transformed the leftover logwood dye bath into naturally dyed handmade paper — used for name cards for each guest. A small offering of care and continuity, born from residue. This slow process led to a private dinner I hosted — a prelude to Mexico City Art Week 2026 — where food, memory, and material wove together. More behind-the-scenes stories to come. - #naturaldye #logwooddye #palocampeche #purpledye #interdisciplinaryart #installationart #bioart #maizmorado #slowprocess #materialstorytelling
