Today is March 1st, which is Independence Movement Day (삼일절). . On this day in 1919, over 2 million Koreans participated in over 1500 demonstrations nationwide. It was a nationalistic show of strength and resistance against Japanese military rule in Korea. This eventually led to Korea's liberation from Japan in 1945.  .
