And so a 6 months “sabbatical” became the most exciting adventure of my life and I ended up staying here in South Korea for over 2 years now 🇰🇷 Here the answers to the most common questions I get asked when telling this story: WHY?! Why not? 😉 HOW OLD WERE YOU? I was 28 when moving here. I honestly think that age is not important.. If you wanna change something, do it. No one actually cares. WHY SOUTH KOREA? I thought about Canada, Mexico, Thailand and many others. In the end I decided to come here because I wanted to learn a completely new language in a proper language course in a safe country with an amazing mix of modern and traditional life. And I fell in love with Korean food 😄 DID YOU KNOW KOREAN? No, I came here without much knowledge of the language (was able to read the alphabet) But I immediately started the language course and now speak korean. (Not perfect but good enough) WHAT VISA ARE YOU ON? I came here with D4 Language Trainee Visa, then switched to H1 Working Holiday. I actively decided against a Korean Full-time Job for now and work part time as a marketing consultant and content creator. HOW MUCH MONEY DID YOU SAVE? The visa required 10,000$ savings, my tuition was 5,000$ for a year. To be honest, I don’t know how much I had saved up in the end as it was already partly invested in flights, tuition and split on different accounts. So sorry, no clear answer for that😅 Do you have more questions?
