Did I just take one of the last public tours of the Blue House? For the first time in 74 years, Cheongwadae, or the Blue House, was opened to the public in 2022 after President Yoon Sun-yeol chose not to live or work there, citing its imperial symbolism. Since then, more than 7 million people have walked the same halls where presidents lived, made decisions, and even dined on personalized kimchi recipes. But things might be changing again. President-elect Lee Jae-myung has publicly said he plans to return the presidential office to Cheongwadae, calling it a space of deep historical, cultural, and symbolic value. A task force is already working on the transition, and while no official move-in date has been set, Koreans and tourists alike are rushing to visit while they still can. Tours of Cheongwadae will be suspended from July 15. 💡 Cheongwadae might not stay open to the public for long. Whether you’re in Korea now or planning a trip soon, don’t miss this rare moment to walk the grounds that once shaped modern Korea’s history. 📍 Located behind Gyeongbokgung Palace 🪪 Bring your passport if you’re a tourist ⏳ Walk-in lines start early—arrive ahead of time!
