It’s the best time to go ⬇️ 📌 Save this post so you don’t forget it later! Want to see seals everywhere lounging along a rugged coastline just a short drive from the city? The sounds, the smells (be warned 😅), and the views are worth it! 📅 From May to October, New Zealand fur seals gather here in huge numbers. It's the only time of year you’ll see this many, and they're easy to spot resting on the rocks. 🚗 Park at the Te Kopahou Visitor Centre and walk the coastal track (approx. 1hr return). It’s mostly flat. If you have a 4WD you can also drive around to the colony, except on Sundays when vehicle access is closed. 🌤️ Bring a windbreaker (it gets gusty!), and keep a respectful 20m+ distance from seals — they're wild animals, not posing models for your selfies.
