Location details👇 Send this to someone who loves scenic sunset hikes ✨ The Muriwai Scenic Lookout track at Muriwai Beach has been closed for nearly two years due to damage from Cyclone Gabrielle. More repairs are needed to make the site safe, so it will be closing again once the gannets are done nesting for the season. It is not yet known how long the closure will last, so make the most of it and go see them now. 🥾 The walk is only 10 minutes from the carpark off Waitea Road. Make sure you visit at sunset to see the golden rays bathe the cliffs in a beautiful light! 🪶 You'll also still catch the gannet colony there until the closure, which is the only easily accessible colony in mainland New Zealand.
