A day hike to the summit of Mount Acatenango to watch Mount Fuego erupt. The hike is 5.5 miles uphill with an elevation gain of 5000-6000 feet. The trail is mostly sand, rocky, or volcanic ash. There were 8 people in the group. At the top, they ate lunch and watched Mount Fuego erupt. They saw about 200-300 overnight campers.
