Traveling can add up quickly! We have used these 5 travel hacks to save money over the last few years when traveling! 1. Prioritizing walkable destinations and those with great public transit. Renting a car can add up so fast! Between renting the car itself, gas and parking plus the stress of driving in a foreign country, we save time and energy by prioritizing cities and places that are walkable or have great public transit. 2. Only travel during the shoulder seasons! We are shoulder season lovers as bad weather doesn’t really bother us! We often get better deals on hotels and local tours than if we went during peak travel time! 3. Pack light to avoid luggage fees. No one wants a surprise $75 fee when flying. We have made that mistake before so now we triple check size requirements before packing! 4. Try to focus on free/cheaper activites! There are plenty of places that have free or cheaper activities! Some of our favorites have been hikes or simple beach days! Also many cities will offer free museum days such as Paris on the first Sunday of the month! 5. Eat where the locals eat. If you find a place with no English menu and locals all around you are in the right spot.m! Prices will be lower than traditional tourist spots and often the food will be much better!! What are your tips for making travel more affordable!
