Our most unexpected way we saved money on our New Zealand trip was the fact you don’t have to pay a fee for national parks or trail heads!! If you are a hiker like we are we are use to having to pay a small fee to enter state and national parks and park at trail heads! So we were shocked to learn that there is no fee to hike in New Zealand! We spent hours exploring trails and the beauty of this country for FREE!
