5 things you need to know before you visit New York this spring (send this to your travel group chat): [1.] Spring comes actually earlier than people think. Cherry blossoms and magnolias usually start showing up in early April, and by the end of April they’re already fading. If you come in May expecting peak bloom, most of the trees will already be past it. Plan for early–mid April if blossoms are your dream. [2.] Book restaurant tables now (asap). Spring is when everyone comes back outside. The good brunch spots and dinner places fill up fast. If there’s somewhere you really want to go, reserve 3–4 weeks ahead. A favorite: brunch at Ladurée in SoHo for a beautiful space and surprisingly one of the easier reservations if you book early. Look up the most worthy reservations at TableOne app [3.] Don’t automatically book a hotel. If you’re staying longer than a few days, look at subletting a furnished apartment for a month instead. A lot of people use Snag Sublets to find places, it can be much cheaper and you actually get to live like a New Yorker for a bit. (Not sponsored, just genuinely useful) [4.] Spring in New York is when the city feels alive again. After winter, everyone suddenly moves outside — parks fill up, new coffee spots open, and the energy shifts overnight. Walk as much as you can. The magic of spring here is mostly found between destinations. [5.] Pack layers and good walking shoes. April weather changes constantly. Can be sunny in the afternoon, super chill at night. The best days are spent walking across neighborhoods, through parks, and over bridges, not sitting in taxis. New York in spring is honestly one of the most beautiful times to see the city.
