I analyzed every. single. hotel. in San Francisco for an article for Afar last year (seriously, I have the spreadsheet to prove it!). I’ve toured, stayed in, and met with GMs from dozens of hotels in the city. I’m also a local and have lived here for 11 years. As a SF resident + travel industry professional, these are the hotels I’d most recommend to friends: ✨ @beacongrand | Union Square | $$ While Union Square isn’t my favorite location in the city, I’d still recommend this historic hotel. It’s affordable, the art deco vibes are on point, and it has a very fun rooftop bar. Plus, it’s on a quieter end of the area, walking distance to Chinatown, and very central. If your priority is price, this would be my top choice. ✨ @1hotel.sanfrancisco | Embarcadero | $$$$ Eco-luxury hotel brand, 1 Hotel, is known for being verrrry sustainable (and I love them for it!). Rooms are spacious, it has an on-site spa (a rare amenity in the city), and is right across from the Ferry Building in the Embarcadero—one of my fave locations to stay in. Plus, their ground floor restaurant and bar has a large, spacious patio perfect for happy hour on nice days. ✨ @thejaysf | Embarcadero | $$$ This Marriott property is one of the newest hotels in the city. It’s in a peaceful location near the Embarcadero / North Beach. Rooms are stylish, comfortable, and functionally designed. Has an on-site outdoor bar. Def try to get a room with a balcony. ✨ @ensohotelsf | Japantown | $$$ I absolutely love this Japan-inspired boutique hotel in Japantown! It was recently renovated, so rooms feel fresh and modern. But the real perk: incredibly friendly staff and a more neighborhood-y location—perfect for those who want to be near lots of cute bars, shops, and restaurants. 👉 Follow @wheresjessieb for more unique travel ideas in California and beyond. ✈️ Comment “FOG” for links to these hotels! #SanFranciscoHotels #CaliforniaTravel #BoutiqueHotels #VisitCalifornia #sanfrancisco
