How to overcome a fear of flying ↓☁️ 📝 Research extensively: Knowledge is power and Google is your best friend. Literally just search - “Positive flying facts” or “Why is flying the safest method of transport?” 💭 I now know that no plane has EVER crashed because of turbulence. I know that flying is the safest form of travel compared to any other form of transport. 🧠 I know WHY turbulence happens. If you can understand why a plane is making the scary noise it’s making, it looses its scare factor! I find watching those videos of pilots as passengers on planes extremely reassuring - especially when they are SO calm during turbulence or an emergency, because they know how safe air travel really is. 🫂 Fake it ‘till you make it! If you were a parent with a child who had a fear of flying, you’d have no choice but to put on a brave face & reassure them that everything’s fine. 💬 I tried doing this with myself once and can’t explain how well ‘fake it ‘till you make it’ actually works! Give yourself/someone else as many reasons as you can as to why they don’t need to worry, and the calm attitude will rub off. 🛍️ Give yourself SO many treats: Favourite ever film? Download it. That brand new album you’d been saving? Listen to it. That overpriced chocolate bar you’d never buy at home? Eat it. A brand new book at the airport? Buy it. 🍾 Make flying something to be really excited about because you’re doing all your favourite things! 🎧 Noise cancelling earphones: My AirPod pros are equally as important as my passport because they cancel out all background noise. Planes are really noisy and a lot of my anxiety comes from loud, strange noises so the less I can hear of them, the better. 👶🏼 Plus you’re likely going to have a screaming child on your flight. 💺 Choose your seat in advance: I always make sure I’m sitting next to the person I’m travelling with for reassurance. ✈️ Equally, the front of the plane wing is less likely to experience turbulence. Some people calm their anxiety by looking out the window so having a window seat is a must. #FlyingAnxiety #FlyingTips #AnxietyTips #overcomeflightanxiety #flyingphobia
