May is Coeliac Awareness Month ↓🌾 🩺 Getting diagnosed with coeliac disease five years ago felt like the end of the world. I actually stood in the ‘Free From’ isle in the supermarket and cried - but looking back, it was the turning point I didn’t know I needed. 📊 1 in 100 people in the UK have coeliac disease — but 64% of them don’t even know it yet. That’s over half a million people still living with symptoms like fatigue, bloating, stomach pains, brain fog, infertility or even nerve issues & skin rashes, without realising the cause. 🩺 That’s why this May, I’m supporting @coeliacuk in their mission to help more people get diagnosed. They’ve launched a free online self-assessment (linked in stories) that could be life-changing for anyone dealing with unexplained health issues. 💡 Diagnosing coeliac early helps prevent long-term complications and gives people the tools to take back control of their health — just like I did. 🧡 Before being diagnosed I suffered daily with stomach pains, I was underweight, my villi was damaged and my bloods were high. Since being on a 100% gluten free diet, ALL of this has changed and I am healthier than I ever was. 🧁 I feel like a huge misconception of coeliac disease is that you miss out on all the fun & delicious food, but since being coeliac I have never eaten better, and my diet is certainly not boring. Check out my ‘gluten free’ highlight to see all of the treats you can still enjoy even on a coeliac diet! 🫶🏼 If you’ve just been diagnosed with coeliac disease, I promise it only get easier and since being diagnosed my life has gotten better in so many ways than I ever thought was possible.
