Which one would you be most excited to try?? Send this to someone you want to go to Portugal with! 🇵🇹 Detailed descriptions below ⬇️ 🥚 Pasteis de nata: Portuguese egg custard tarts, probably the the number 1 thing that comes to mind when you think of Portuguese food and for good reason. The crust is crispy and flaky and the custard is soft and creamy, just a perfect combination. Check out my older reel on all the ones we tried! 🍽 Sardines: people love their sardines in Portugal! We visited outside of sardine season (June-October) so it was actually a bit hard to find, but if you go during the season it should be everywhere. You can also buy canned sardines as a souvenir! 🥂 Vinho verde: literally “green wine”, it’s not actually green and refers to wine from the Minho region of Portugal. These wines are usually light and refreshing because they’re released only 3-6 months after harvesting and meant to be consumed soon after bottling. 🐟 Pasteis de bacalhau: salt cod fritters that can be found in restaurants and bakeries alike, they’re slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside, they make for a delicious appetizer or snack! 🍷 Port: fortified wine from the Duoro Valley, it’s an absolute must try. Bonus if you do it at a vineyard! 🦑 Fresh seafood: Portugal had some of the best and freshest seafood I’ve ever had, like this whole grilled squid in Évora. 🦐 Cataplana: a traditional Algarvean dish, it’s named for the clam-shaped pot it’s cooked in. It’s a stew that’s typically made from tomatoes, onions, peppers, prawns, clams, and other seafood.
