: Japanese Friendship Garden is very beautiful but has faced sad tragedies . In 2009, a deadly fish virus killed 90% of the Koi in the ponds that were sent from Okayama, Japan in 1966. In 2017, the Coyote Creek flooded the Japanese Friendship Garden, submerging the lower ponds and most of the tea house. The main pumps for the Koi ponds were damaged, resulting in two out of the three koi ponds completely drying up. Now, only one upper koi pond with koi from Japan remains for visitors to see. Overall, the entire garden is still very pretty. With not many people around, it’s a perfect place for an intimate picnic with your loved ones. I hope that in the coming years, the garden is restored to its full beauty! #sanjose #koi #japan #japanesefriendshipgarden #sanjosecalifornia #california #visitcalifornia #travelgram #hiddengem #garden #sfbay #sfbayarea #bayareatravel
