The preserve is known for its rare grasslands, butterfly habitat, and wide open views of Coyote Valley. 🥾 Hike details Distance: 5.4 miles loop Elevation gain 971 ft Time: 2 to 3 hours Difficulty: moderate The trails here are mostly moderate with some uphill sections but nothing too difficult. The paths are wide and open with very little shade, so spring and early morning hikes are the best time to visit. 🦋 Why this hike is special This preserve protects rare serpentine grasslands which attract wildflowers and butterflies during spring. You may also see birds, grazing animals, and amazing rolling hill views. 🅿️ Parking Parking is available at the preserve entrance, but some areas require a free reservation or pass depending on the trail access, so check before visiting. ⚠️ Important access info This loop is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays A Butterfly Pass may be required for some sections of the trail Check the Open Space Authority website before visiting ⏰ Best time to visit Spring is the best season for green hills, wildflowers, and butterfly activity.
