”이거 먹어“ (Eat this) means the same as “사랑해” (I love you) here in South Korea 😂 It’s my boyfriend’s & my Korean family’s way to show me they care about and love me.. ❤️ (Of course that I’m the youngest in the family and so clumsy that I burn myself regularly on this grill, adds to them handing me the food, because I should be careful 😂😂) Bonding with each other through meals (and the drinks served with it) is a huge part of Korean culture. In families, friend groups or business dinners - you probably saw it a lot in Korean dramas! So far I can confirm: I got closer to the people I had dinner with often.. 😄🙌🏼 It goes that far, that Koreans don’t ask you how you are, but if you ate something when meeting you [밥 먹었어?].. or that the most common gifts are related to food like the fruit baskets or spam packages during Seollal (lunar new year) or Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) 😄🙌🏼 How important is food in your culture? 🌎🍴 #korean #culture #seoul #southkorea #kfood #kbbq #korea #koreanfamily #internationalcouple #culturaldifferences
