▼Spot info▼ 📍Old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Villa ※This villa is open for tours, but is not an accommodation. @shimogamobettei 🍃About At the end of summer and the entrance to autumn, I believe it is far too precious to call this simply “the season of waiting for autumn leaves.” Kyoto is wrapped in a unique beauty that only exists for this brief time, filled with freshness, clarity, and tranquility. I love this moment in Kyoto. This time, I am sharing that beauty with you from the Old Mitsui Family Shimogamo Villa. This villa is a designated Important Cultural Property and offers a perfect experience of Japanese architectural beauty. Located just south of Shimogamo Shrine, this former villa of the Mitsui family, wealthy merchants, has been open to the public since 2016. The site consists of three main buildings: the “Main House” from the Meiji era with its distinctive watchtower, the “Entrance Wing” added during the Taisho period, and a teahouse from the late Edo period. A beautiful garden stretches out in front of the main house. There is also a café space where you can enjoy matcha with a traditional sweet, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing break while exploring the Demachiyanagi area. 🗺️Address 58 2 Shimogamo Miyagawa cho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, Japan 🚃Access ⚪︎By train Five minutes on foot from Demachiyanagi Station on Keihan Railway or Eizan Electric Railway. ⚪︎By bus Kyoto City Bus Aoibashi Nishizume or Demachiyanagi eki mae stops, about five minutes on foot. 🕙Opening hours 9:00 to 17:00, last entry 16:30. Closed on Wednesdays, the following day when Wednesday is a national holiday, and from December 29 to 31. #kyotoculture #kyotostyle #japanesearchitecture #dayinmylifevlog
