a few things I thought were normal but aren’t ⬇️ 🥲 Not knowing multiple languages.. I never considered learning another language in Australia… maybe my bad? It’s just really uncommon to meet an Australian who speaks multiple languages, but living in Europe EVERYONE at least understands two languages??? and most of them were taught as children?? 😭 so now I’m working on it. 🕷️ Always being aware of bugs. For the most part I grew up on the Sunshine Coast, and it’s not uncommon to see bugs, spiders and snakes. Checking what’s inside my shoes before I put them on, checking under the sun visor in my car before I drive. But I don’t worry about any of that anymore??? Even the small things like having a picnic in the park and not having the worry about setting up on a nest of bull ants ?? 🐜 or having to worry about flies all the time. I’m finally at peace 🙏 🌅 Being awake and out of the house early. It’s so normal for cafes to open from 5:30am/6am in Australia. So I never had a problem getting out of bed before 8am. But in Portugal it’s close to impossible to find a good coffee spot open before 9:30… so now I can sleep in I guess? 🍴 Eating dinner at 6pm…? I thought dinner time was 6-7, but not around here. Dinner is usually LATE. 8:30 is the furtherest I’ve been able to push myself but most people don’t eat until after 9pm? I don’t think I’ll ever adjust to that. Swearing a lot 👁️👄👁️ I already know I swear a lot but I honestly didn’t notice it until I left home… and now I have to filter myself constantly.
