The Odeon of Herodes Atticus, located on the South Slope of the Acropolis, was built in 161 CE by the wealthy Athenian Herodes Atticus in honor of his late wife, Regilla. It was a grand venue, with ancient writer Philostratus noting the use of expensive cedar wood in its construction.
