Unique Wooden Pagoda
The Palsangjeon is a magnificent five-story wooden pagoda, unique in Korea as it's the only remaining pagoda with a temple hall that enshrines a Buddha statue and depicts the life of Buddha through paintings on its interior walls.
Century Origins
While founded in the 6th century, Beopjusa Temple saw significant expansion and development during the Unified Silla Dynasty, particularly in the 8th century under the monk Jinpyo.
Bronze Buddha
The temple grounds feature the impressive Geumdong Mireuk Daebul (Golden Bronze Maitreya Buddha), a towering statue that stands 33 meters (approximately 108 feet) tall.
