Bute Park
In 1858, the castle grounds were restricted to the public, and as a replacement, 434 acres of land to the west and north of the castle were turned into Bute Park.

Burges Memorial
In the Arab Room, architect William Burges's initials, along with those of the Marquess of Bute, and the date 1881, were placed in the fireplace as a memorial to Burges, who died while working on the room.
