Taiwan's First Station

Hamasen Railway Cultural Park was once the site of Takao Port Station (打狗停車場), Taiwan's very first railway station, established in 1900 during the Japanese colonial era.

The name 'Hamasen' (哈瑪星) is a transliteration of the Japanese word 'Hamasei' (浜線), meaning 'beach line' or 'shoreline', referring to the railway line that ran along the coast.

Park Establishment

After decades of operation, the station ceased passenger services in 1990 and freight services in 2008. It was officially transformed into the Hamasen Railway Cultural Park in 2010.
