Million Years Old Rocks
The unique rock formations at Heping Island GeoPark, like the 'Mushroom Rocks' and 'Sea Erosion Arch', are primarily composed of sandstone and shale that are over two million years old, sculpted by centuries of wind and sea erosion.
Historical Significance
Heping Island, formerly known as 'She-Liao Island,' was the first area in Taiwan where the Spanish established a foothold in the 17th century, building Fort San Salvador.
