Gateway to the North
Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park is located just 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) and the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), serving as a powerful symbol of hope for reunification and a window into the division of Korea.
Windmills of Hope
The park features a vibrant display of around 5,000 colorful pinwheels, known as 'Wind of Hope', symbolizing the collective wish for peace and reunification of the Korean peninsula.
Bridge of Freedom
Within the park, you can find the 'Bridge of Freedom' (자유의 다리), a former railway bridge that was used by repatriated prisoners of war returning from the North after the armistice in 1953.
