Original Palace
The gardens were originally home to a magnificent Crystal Palace, built in 1865 for the International Exhibition of Porto, inspired by London's Crystal Palace. It was unfortunately demolished in 1951.
Modern Pavilion
The original Crystal Palace was replaced in 1951 by the current domed pavilion, now known as the Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota, which hosts concerts, sports, and various events.
