LOVE Statue Arrival
Robert Indiana's iconic LOVE statue was first placed in the plaza for the United States Bicentennial in 1976.

Statue Acquisition
After being removed in 1978, the LOVE statue was purchased by F. Eugene Dixon, Jr., Chairman of the Philadelphia Art Commission, and permanently returned to the plaza due to its immense popularity.
