Years of Rule
The Yamauchi clan, who built Kochi Castle, ruled the Tosa Domain (present-day Kochi Prefecture) from this castle for over 250 years, until the end of the Edo period.

Uchiyagura
Kochi Castle features a rare 'uchiyagura' (inner turret) structure, which allowed defenders to fire downwards on attackers who had breached the outer defenses, a testament to its strategic design.
