Walk-in Geode
The Pulpí Geode is so large, with a maximum diameter of approximately 8 meters (26 feet), that it is one of the few geodes in the world that visitors can actually enter and explore.
Recent Discovery
Despite its immense size and geological significance, the Pulpí Geode was only discovered relatively recently, in December 1999, by members of the Madrid Mineralogical Group.
Giant Crystal Composition
The geode is lined with spectacular, transparent or translucent gypsum crystals, some of which can reach impressive lengths of up to 2 meters (6.6 feet).
Historic Mine Setting
The geode is located within the abandoned Mina Rica (Rich Mine) in the Sierra del Aguilón, a former iron and silver mine that operated until the mid-20th century.
