The cross atop the dome of Saint Sava is a massive 12 meters high, 5 meters wide, and weighs 4 tonnes. It was designed by Nebojša Mitrić, a Holocaust survivor, and Branko Pešić.

The Temple of Saint Sava was officially opened in 2004, though construction began in 1935 and was interrupted by World War II. The final works were completed in 2020.
