The weirdest thing I saw in Seoul this week… Am I the only one that is just seeing these? Instead of the reusable one-size-fits-all plastic booties you often see in glass/mirror floor spaces, I found this funky automatic shoe cover machine in the 63 Building in Seoul. Much like the umbrella blow dryers, it’s giving over-the-top unnecessary but cool vibes? I assume the plastic can be reused/repurposed otherwise it seems like it would add up to a lot of waste. Just when cafes in Korea are being asked to limit their plastic, forgo straws, and save plastic cups, this is a thing? Humorously, the company that produces this says users don’t need to bend down and that’s a pro to the product… wonder how they recommend taking the plastic off without bending down though? I didn’t see any staff trying to get down on the floor to help with that. This was interesting, weird, a bit unnecessary, and likely not at all eco-friendly, so I’m not sure how I feel about it.
