This is one of the most magical places in California — yet generally not on most visitors’ radar. (Yes, it’s popular within certain circles but trust—not everyone knows it the way everyone knows Yosemite.) We spent a day climbing boulders and driving around the desert earlier this September and weren’t over these views for a minute. 🤠 Here’s how to visit: ✨ Location: Alabama Hills ✨ Sites to visit: Movie Road, Mobius Arch, and Boot Arch ✨ Closest town: Lone Pine (yeehaw 🤠) ✨ Closest major city: Los Angeles (about 3.5 hrs away) ✨ Cost: Free! ✨ Best time: Cooler months — summers are hot hot hot Since it’s kind of remote, it’s best visited as part of a road trip along Highway 395 — yet another totally underrated drive in California.
