Inspired by the glaciers in Argentine Patagonia, I started melting ice blocks, which were natural-dyed and molded in found containers, onto canvas. The melting leaves stains of color that resemble glaciers or mountain ranges—traces of fading memories. The natural dye come from plants I gathered in La Plata, Buenos Aires: Palo Borracho (silk floss tree), Plátano (plane tree) leaves and seed pods, Yerba Mate, Hierba Mora (black nightshade), and naranjas amargas (bitter oranges). Like glaciers, memories melt and leave their mark. - <Melting Glaciers> A 2-minute video and a live durational installation with melting ice blocks were presented @residenciacorazon on the opening day of my solo show <Hacer un Bosque (Making a Forest)>. - #natureart #glaciers #glacier #naturaldye #ephemeral #ephemeralart #plantdye #plantdyed #plantdyeing
