Where to stay in Seoul → Save this for later I travel between Jeju and Seoul regularly for work, which means I’ve stayed in A LOT of different places in Seoul. From hostels when I’m traveling alone to hotels and other stays when I’m with my family, I’m sharing the places I’ve actually stayed and what I thought. 📍 Unplug Anguk Address: 11 Yulgok-ro 10-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul I’ve stayed here twice now, for a total of 7 nights, which probably tells you something already. This is an almost completely self-service stay in Jongno. Check-in happens at a kiosk starting promptly at 4:00 PM (it won’t let you check in earlier), there’s an elevator, and luggage lockers downstairs mean you can leave your bags before or after your stay. The rooms are simple but spacious. Both of the rooms I stayed in had large wet bathrooms, good water pressure, a fridge, kettle, TV, hair dryer, and bottled water. Our rooms were incredibly quiet, too. We never heard anything from neighboring rooms. The tradeoff is service. There isn’t really staff around when you need something and your room isn’t automatically cleaned during your stay. Towels and water aren’t automatically refreshed either, so you’ll need to contact them when you need something. The beds are also quite firm. Not the hardest I’ve slept on in Korea, but not my favorite either. ⭐ MY RATINGS Service: 7/10 Bed Comfort: 7/10 Accessibility: 8/10 Space: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Location: 9/10 The location is one of the best parts. You’re close to Changdeokgung Palace, Bukchon, Insadong, Ikseon-dong, and Seosulla-gil, but tucked away from the busiest streets. Not the closest to the subway, but the bus stops outside got us everywhere we wanted to go. 🍽️ BONUS: GDB GDB is the dark, chic restaurant downstairs and honestly, it’s part of the reason I stayed here again. I’ve eaten there three times now, once alone and twice with my daughter, and we’ve tried just about everything. The food takes inspiration from Korean traditions and different culinary cultures, with familiar ingredients used in really interesting ways.
