Had the privilege of working with archived pigments from @mira_maodus_art — including the legendary Adam Blue @adamparis1898 (famously known as Yves Klein Blue @yvesklein_archives from Montparnasse, Paris) — alongside my own collected pigments gathered through travels from @londonpigment @l.cornelissen_and_son @kremerpigmente @kremerpigmentsnyc and my handmade pigments @t.e.x.e.r.e with @rox.and.roll , for my open studio @lairarts. What makes this painting even more special is its binding medium: funori algae, a material with over 2,000 years of history in Asian painting traditions. Created directly on the historic, unfixed, and textured wooden-block floor of Atelier 11, the work carries imprints of the site’s own memory. Over three days of open studio and public programs for Journées du Patrimoine et du Matrimoine, visitors witnessed the painting’s slow evolution — layers of algae, dust, and pigment particles suspended in time, alive in every surface. The painting carries not only the memory of pigments and algae, but also the imprints of the historic wooden floor on which it was created.
